Ibiza is full of interesting places to discover, some of them a bit hidden or that will even go unnoticed before your eyes. That’s why today we bring you a small but tempting guide of places on the island with a genuine identity that is worth to visit if you want to discover all the different faces of Ibiza.
We hope that these proposals are part of an unforgettable holiday.
Restaurant Salvadó in Pou des Lleó
The northern part of the island is full of hidden places that are waiting to be discovered. One of them is the restaurant Salvadó in Pou des Lleó, a small fisherman’s beach cove ideal for relaxing by the sea. This restaurant is highly recommended for its authentic typical seafood flavor of the island, only available in places like this where the kitchen is run by local chefs who use the best fresh catch of the coast of Ibiza to make its dishes much tastier. Do not forget to try some of their specialties such as ‘Bullit de Peix’ (typical Ibizan fish stew) and the typical Ibizan grilled prawns of unique flavour. An authentic Ibizan cuisine restaurant in an idyllic beach cove that will complete a real seafood style experience.
Bar Can Jordi
Ibiza has plenty of bars of every kind, but each time, more luxurious styles are rising in popularity. But in the inside of the island there are authentic Ibizan places that will make you forget the glitz and enjoy a good beer in a more cozy and relaxed atmosphere. The most recommended place for an experience like this is Bar Can Jordi, a great little lifelong shop that has a small bar with some tables to sit at in its yard. This place does not have great views nor any special products, but it does have a sinigual atmosphere and an interesting live music proposal with local rock bands of the island every Friday night and in the summer Saturday evenings as well. This special bar is located right on the side of the road from Sant Josep to Ibiza, near the turnoff leading to Es Cubells. You should look for it carefully because you could pass it by without noticing it, but once you know it you’ll surely visit it all the time.
Aquarium Cap Blanc and its ‘sardinadas’
A few meters on the outskirts of Sant Antoni, near Cala Gració, we find this special corner that will be the perfect refuge for sea life lovers. It is the lovely Aquarium Cap Blanc kiosk, popularly known as “Sa Cova de ses Llagostes” (lobster’s cave). Despite its simple appearance, here you can enjoy any refreshing beverage and snacks with fabulous views of the bay of Sant Antoni in the background and the island of Conejera starring in the sunsets in the area. Furthermore, as the name suggests, you can visit the inside of the sea cave which was once a fishing nursery and which today serves as a small aquarium where you can closely see the species that inhabit the waters of Ibiza. We recommend to visit it from Thursday to Saturday in the evening, when they offer tasty ‘sardinadas’ (sardine barbecue) at a great price accompanied by a typical ‘ensalada payesa’ (typical Ibizan salad). A Mediterranean meal perfect to enjoy by the seaside.
Chiringuito de María en Talamanca
On the seaside you’ll always find all kinds of beach bars and restaurants that offer a varied gastronomic proposal, especially seafood as the Chiringuito de María offers. To find this small beach bar you have to go along the coast of Talamanca until you pass by all the restaurants in the area and go into the rocky area on the left side. There you will find several umbrellas that shelter this place and where you can refuge from the intense summer heat. Meanwhile, nothing like enjoying an authentic beach meal with delicious grilled fresh fish served with a delicious salad. Simple, tasty and hearty dishes at very reasonable prices. The most notable, the hospitality of María and the honesty of her business where everyone is welcome.
