Today we thought it might be interesting to map out a different beaches route. We’re going to head up to the opposite end of the island, to the area just north of Santa Eulalia, where, as you’ll see, there are also many nice coves and beaches to explore.

[:]

Let’s start with the Es Canar beach, the site of what, in bygone days, was a small and quaint fisherman’s harbor. Today Es Canar has become one of the most popular tourist hubs on Ibiza. In addition to its beach, with its clear waters and family atmosphere, we find all types of services. It is here also that we find, every Wednesday throughout the summer, Ibiza’s largest concentration of market stalls, the famous Es Canar hippie market at Punta Arabí.

Our next stop is Cala Nova, an attractive beach with fine golden sands and transparent waters, framed by a beautiful wood of Phoenician juniper (sabina). The natural enclave of this beach remains very much intact. The atmosphere is low-key and family-friendly, with different restaurants and snack bars at our disposal. A cool sea breeze always blows here – a natural form of climate control that, in the hot summer months, is much appreciated.

Next on our itinerary is Cala Llenya, a touristic but relaxed family beach, which offers a wide a range of services. Its broad curving shoreline is covered with white sands and fringed by Mediterranean woods. Its clear calm waters make it ideal for children. A multitude of aquatic sports are also available at this lively seaside resort.

A few kilometers down the road we find Cala Mastella, a small cove in an almost virgin state of conservation, covered intermittently with sand and cobbles. A sweet water stream empties into the sea here and to one side there is a fisherman’s harbor where we find the mythic restaurant of Joan “El Bigotes”, whose only entrée is his famous Bullit de Peix, made from what he himself has fished that day.

We’ll finish up with the fantastic Cala Boix whose fine dark sands are lapped by incredibly transparent waters. This long beach is well endowed with good restaurants where we can indulge in the best of Ibiza’s gastronomy, with an accent on fresh fish and seafood. This is one of Ibiza’s most unusual yet beautiful beaches.

Enjoy your day at the beach!

For the past few weeks we have been acquainting our readers with the marvelous beaches in the vicinity of the Hotel Ses Pitreras, that is, in the San José area.
